Nutrigrain

This project was a pitch that never went ahead but I always like the potential for this idea and while it had been circling for years, this brief seemed like a good fit. Using particle animation to imply form is, I think, one of the most interesting aspects of 3D animation. While very hard to do well, it's these kinds of physics based effects that remove the presence of the tool and always provide good surprises and an elegance that is hard to replicate with traditional key frame animation. These drawings explore how points of energy could break apart quickly to form clear silhouettes of sporting figures for a brand of Australian cereal called Nutrigrain.
